Pirate Bay verdict

Posted by nicklas on April 16, 2009

Tomorrow the verdict in the ongoing trial against The Pirate Bay will be announced. As Pirate Bay themselves say “It will not be the final decision, only the first before the losing party will appeal. It will have no real effect on anything besides setting the tone for the debate, so we hope we win of course.”

The verdict will most probably create a lot of media coverage, so the Pirate Bay have announced a press conference, tomorrow at 13:00, where they will give their point of view on the outcome. In true Pirate Bay fashion, everyone is invited - digitally. No one will be able to attend the press conference physically. The press conference will be streamed and the URL will be posted on Pirate Bay’s front web page a few minutes before 13:00.

The reason this is interesting (besides the actual verdict), is the way Pirate Bay communicates -  on their premises and always sharable, just like the service they provide. In a sense it’s walking the talk and doing the walk.

If you would like to tune in to the press conference tomorrow - check out the website here.

Michelle Lee at our New York office has written a short, but interesting piece on social media, people and brands.

YOUR MOM’S ON TWITTER

By Michelle Lee, Naked NYC

According to a recent study, baby boomers are now adopting social networking applications at a significantly faster pace than Gen Y, as highlighted here.

While Gen Y adoption of these tools has increased slightly (by 2%), baby boomers have connected at a much greater rate. There was a 59% increase in adoption for those in their 50s and 60s between last year and this year - 30 times that of their younger counterparts.

And with more and more baby boomers adopting social media and especially Twitter the lines between inner, outer and far outer social circles is quickly blurring.

So in the past where you might have shown one side of yourself to your Mom, another side to your friends and yet another to your work colleagues, with all these worlds colliding, these sides or dimensions are all melding together. Your Mom is probably learning things about you that she never knew before – scary.

Often we talk about brands having different sides to their personality. They might act one way with their consumers, another way with their customers, and yet another with their suppliers. But as they too begin to embrace social networking platforms it will be intriguing to see how they weave together all the nuances to reveal their overall character. Technology may force these brands to step back and see the full picture – which suggests an exciting new landscape for brands to reveal new, unknown facets to their character.

Mer sprit i Sverige

Posted by nicklas on April 02, 2009
